Mr. Anar Karimov is a Legal and Compliance professional with more than 18 years of experience in providing legal and compliance support to mainly banking sector, including due-diligence, litigation, risk management, anti-money laundering (AML) and mediation experience in state authorities and commercial sector. He is a holder of Professional Certificate of Competency in the field of Compliance (certified Compliance Officer) by Agence de Transfert de Technologie Financiere (Luxembourg).

A. Karimov is an alumnus of Baku State University (BSU) and Azerbaijan State Economic University (ASEU). He completed a master’s degree with honor diploma majoring in International Law from BSU in 2004. He began his professional career in 2002 in State Agency on Standardization, Metrology and Patents as a legal counselor.

In the course of 2004 he worked in “Azer-Turk Bank” JSC as a legal counsellor. Later he joined ”Gilazi Karpich” company as a deputy director of brickworks. In 2006 he worked as a credit analyst in “BirlikBank”. In 2006-2007 he served as the Head of the Legal division in “Sumqayit Electrik Shebeke”.

In 2007, Mr. Karimov joined PASHA Bank as a specialist of the Legal unit. Throughout his time at PASHA Bank, A. Karimov served as the Manager of the Legal unit, Director of the Legal & Compliance department, Money laundering reporting officer (MLRO) and Chairman of Anti Money Laundering Commission at Bank. Currently, Mr. Karimov is a Chairman of Compliance & AML Working Group of Azerbaijan Bank Association.

Mr. Karimov was promoted to the position of Chief Compliance Officer of PASHA Bank on January, 5, 2021.
