Cybersecurity information
The main goal of fraudsters is to obtain your confidential information. After obtaining this information, they try to perform transactions through your bank accounts and, unfortunately, often succeed.
Learn about some of the deception methods fraudsters use to obtain your personal data:
A fraudster may call you from an unknown number and introduce themselves as a "bank security officer". To obtain confidential information, they may say that "the bank has detected a suspicious transaction" or that "there are issues in the system". Under the pretext of "helping you avoid losing your money", the fraudster may ask you for the full card number (the 16 digits on the card), CVV or CVC code, the OTP code received by SMS, or your Online Bank login password.
Remember!Do not share any personal information based on the caller's instructions. A bank employee can take all necessary steps to protect your card without calling you to request such information.
Fraudsters may call or send an SMS saying that they mistakenly transferred money to your account and ask you to return that amount. Once you transfer the money, it will not be possible to get it back.
Remember!Do not carry out any transaction immediately based on the caller's instructions. First, check your card balance to make sure the funds have actually been credited to your account. You can call the bank for additional information.
Fraudsters may call you, send you an SMS or contact you through social media pages saying that you have won a lottery or received a gift. They will try to obtain confidential information under the pretext of "transferring the gift amount to your account".
Remember!Since the bank already has information related to your account, there is no need for a bank employee to request it from you again. Before carrying out any transaction based on the caller's instructions, call the bank to verify whether the information is correct.
Fraudsters may send you an email or SMS offering you to take part in a lottery. The link will lead to a fake website. You will be asked to enter your personal information on that website. You may also be asked to make a payment of a certain amount to participate in the lottery.
Remember! The Bank provides information about all campaigns and lotteries in advance through official sources. Before entering any requested information, call the bank to confirm whether the lottery is actually being held.
